Dear brothers & sisters:
“Discipleship Uncomplicated”, The 8 Principles of Disciple Making by Dr. Warren Haynes
Principle 8 – Multiply Leaders – Empower Rapid Advance (part 10)
Coach successful skill integration. Here we coach through each of these skills and inspect the results until we lead others to integrate these skills into everyday life. A skill is something we have learned so well that we can use it when we need it. Skill integration is key to everyday disciple making. If we can’t employ the skill in real time when opportunities are ripe, we haven’t learned it.
A skill is not something we learn and forget. A skill is something we learn and carry with us all our lives. Focus on skill integration. Each challenge moves us to engage people relationally, spiritually, and developmentally. Investing in others is the heart of disciple making.
As you inspire others to develop the skills covered in Discipleship Uncomplicated, you are giving them what they need to be successful in the work of making disciples. Listen to each other and share your personal insights and stories with each other. As a coach I have gleaned generous amounts of inspiration and insights from the people I have met with, and you will too.
Coaching requires that we give specific assignments, follow up, and celebrate every success. That is why each of these sections comes with a challenge to complete. Coach your leaders through each and every challenge. Notice that each challenge carries three primary elements: Reaching, Doing, and Teaching. These specific assignments are where we start. For example, the first specific assignment given is to develop a Reach List and teach someone else how to develop a list. Jesus laid these elements out in the Great Commission. Reaching, doing, and teaching are foundational for making disciples.
