Dear brothers & sisters:
“Discipleship Uncomplicated”, The 8 Principles of Disciple Making by Dr. Warren Haynes
Principle 8 – Multiply Leaders – Empower Rapid Advance (part 11)
Coach to reach new people. Using the section entitled “What’s Your Name?” walk them through how God called people by name. Share one of the inspirational stories in the book, or share your own inspirational story. Guide them through the practical tips and get them started recording the first five names on their list. Do not leave until they have at least the first five names on their list. As soon as they begin to add names, I start celebrating their progress. Challenge and inspire them to complete the first challenge. Then set up your next get-together.
Adding people to the Reach List is an ongoing skill. It will be repeated in every challenge. Add at least one new person for every session you have. I personally set a goal to add one new person to my Reach List every week. The number of people on your list is not as important as the discipline of consistently adding people to your list. When we stop recruiting, we stop making disciples.
At the beginning of a meeting, I will share a story about a new name on my list, then I will ask them, “Now tell me about someone new on your list.” A good friend of mine shared the M.A.W.L method with me. Model, Assist, Watch and Leave are wonderful guide stones to develop those on your bench. Model what you want to multiply. Assist where needed for them to experience success. Watch them so you can coach them up where needed. And Leave them when they can do it on their own.
